Strike A Chord Entries Open

Musica Viva Australia and Artistic Director of Competitions, Wilma Smith are delighted to announce the 3rd edition of the national chamber music competition, Strike A Chord.

Secondary school students across Australia are encouraged to form chamber music ensembles of between three and eight players in any vocal or instrumental combination performing music that is ‘classical’ in style. Online entries close on 2 June 2022.

There are major incentives for ensembles to enter Strike A Chord. The total prize pool is worth over $40,000, comprising cash and professional development prizes awarded at all stages of the competition.

Strike A Chord gives students the opportunity to explore their potential and discover the joy of making music with friends, whatever their level of ability. The Novice Section is free to enter and is open to groups in which all members are playing at a maximum of AMEB Grade 4 level (or equivalent). Novice winners will be announced on 22 June 2022.
